Early Learning

Sound to Harbor Early Learning Programs support children ages 3 to 5.

The Early Learning Program provides children with an individualized environment rich in diversity, community field trips and outings, transportation, health and development screenings and nutritious meals. The program also supports families and helps them connect to the community resources.

Education & Testing

Teacher

  • For a preschool classroom, a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 30 quarter credits of Early Childhood Education (required within 3 years of hire date)
  • For a birth – toddler classroom, a Child Development Associate credential with an infant/toddler endorsement
  • Job-related experience

Teacher Assistant

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Either enrolled in or willing to enroll in a program leading to a CDA or an AA in Early Childhood
  • Job-related experience

Center Support Aide

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Job-related experience desired

Necessary Knowledge

  • Understand child development and age appropriate activities
  • Perform basic math
  • Speak English and write with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Analyze situations
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures
